Childhood obesity is emerging as one of the main health challenges of the 21st century and September is known as Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. To commemorate and to encourage healthy choices among our students, we have invited Doctor Hala Najib to give lectures on healthy eating. The students learned right food choices through interactive presentations adapted to their age.
Our nurses also took the initiative and launched a “My School Lunchbox” board where they displayed the pictures of students’ lunchboxes separating them to healthy and unhealthy.
We have also started annual examination of students for any noticeable variations compared with the World Health Organization (WHO) BMI chart in the height and weight. Our school nurses will carry out the measurements using Combined Height/Weight Scale.
