Omega Dubai Ladies Classic

The Grade 11 & 12 students who are studying the IB Carer Programme spent 4 days working as marshals at the recent Omega Dubai Ladies Classic Golf Tournament at the Emirates Golf Club. This activity is part of their CP course where they are involved in local events to develop key life skills of event management, organisation, planning, team work, collaboration, etc. It is a valuable experience for the students as they involved in such a high-profile event seeing behind the scenes as well as meeting some of the world’s top lady golfers. There are only 2 schools in Dubai who are invited to be part of this event, so GCS is privileged to be involved.

Pic 4Gr11 students did a pre-tournament site visit to the golf course to familiarise themselves with the layout, etc and also to carry out health & safety research which is an important part of event management. Here they met professional golfers Christina Wolf & Olivia Cowan as they started their practice round.

Our CP students were involved in the presentation ceremony which was a thrill and had this photo with the winner, Angel Lyn from the United States.

Our next event is the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Men’s Tournament from 25th – 28th January.
