Arabic Reading Challenge is a Global Initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum where 7.4 million participants took part of this challenge from all Arab country’s. There where over 300,000 participants from the UAE. My brothers and I participated in this initiative. Every participant had to read 50 books and summarize their context. These books must be from different intellectual fields. My brothers and I where amongst the 20 finalists for Dubai. My brother Abdulrahman was the youngest finalist and I won 7th place in Dubai. GCS had three finalists which is a record for this initiative. Therefore, I was invited to attend the final ceremony and I am proud that I have represented GCS in the ceremony.

Several key figures where invited such as Sheikhs, ministers, ambassadors and celebrities additional to the huge media and press crowds that included several TV and radio stations. I have managed to take a photo with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and chancellor of the UAE university, Zayed university and chancellor of Higher colleges of technology. The ceremony was opened by key singers and the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. All people who won first place on their country where invited to the stage, awarded medals and took a joined phot with His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The winner of the Arabic Reading Challenge was awarded to Afaf Sharif from Palestine. I felt very proud to attend such a ceremony, and I felt more proud that the winner is also from my country.
