Welcome to a New Year in the Library

Welcome to the Secondary Library!

I am amazed that the first term of the 2017 – 2018 Academic Year is almost at the half way point, and before more time slips away, I wanted to introduce myself and to let everyone in our school community know that the library staff in the MYP/DP/CP library are here to do all we can to support you in helping our students reach new levels of academic success this year.

For our new families, I wanted to share this link which will give you 24/7 access to the GCS Library Catalogue, all of our online databases and other useful resources: http://libraries.taaleem.ae If you need log in information and/or passwords, please ask your child’s homeroom teacher and/or one of the library staff and we will be happy to help.

The Book Track

The English Department is starting an exciting new reading initiative for 6th and 7th grades this month and we would like to encourage your child to participate! All 6th and 7th grade classes will be in competition to see which class can read the most books and be the first to complete the track. Students can choose any fiction or nonfiction book and upon completion should see Sophie Redding of the English Department to complete a comprehension worksheet. If they need ideas for what to read next, we are more than happy to make recommendations in the library!

All the best for a fabulous school year!
