My name is Gemma Hammond. I am the Deputy Head of Early Years and this is my first year at Greenfield Community School. I have been teaching for seventeen years both in the UK and internationally. I moved to Dubai in 2016 with my husband and last year I was the Head of Early Education at The Children’s Garden Jumeira.
I hold a PGCE in Primary Education with an Early Years specialism. Although I have taught across the whole primary phase, my passion is the Early Years. It never fails to amaze me how quickly children develop and learn new skills and how quickly their love for learning grows.
I aim to ensure all children feel happy, safe and secure to give each and every one of them the best possible start to their educational journey where they develop the confidence and independence to become lifelong learners. I am a firm believer of learning through play and inquiry which allows children to acquire skills in a way that is the most beneficial for them. Our transdisciplinary approach to learning enables children to develop all the IB Learner Profile characteristics whilst developing confidence and independence as they explore and make sense of the world around them.
