The UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda emphasises the development of a first-rate education system and has set as a target that students in UAE rank among the best in the world in reading, mathematics and science exams. The KHDA requires all private schools in Dubai to participate in standardised tests in order to evidence the nation’s progress towards achieving these goals. They specify which tests should be written. Hitherto we have written the ACER International Benchmark Tests and I wrote to you last month to share with you the very pleasing progress our students have made in raising the scores, particularly in Mathematics and Science: our English results remain well above international averages.
The KHDA have removed the IBT’s from the list of approved tests. After looking at the range of options available to us, all the Taaleem schools have decided to opt for the GL Progress tests. All students from Grades 3 – 9 will write an English, Maths and Science paper of approximately an hour each. They will take place later this term. These are entirely skills and understanding based and students should and cannot prepare for them.
If you would like to know more about the tests please have a look at the GL Assessment website: https://www.gl-assessment.co.uk/products/progress-test-series/
